About

The Frustrated Writers’ Group is a writing collective based in Dublin. We host free, twice monthly workshops for our members – one in person at Unit 44 in Stoneybatter and one online – where members have the opportunity to present and critique work. Founded in April 2022, the FWG has grown to include 300+ members.  We also host regular artist talks  with Ireland-based writers and readings of our members’ work. We’ve been featured in the Dublin Inquirer, in Totally Dublin, and on Dublin Digital Radio.

In addition to our workshops and artist talks, we edit and publish a regular anthology, featuring prose, poetry and visual art from group members, created through a collaborative editing process. Our latest anthology Frustrated Writers’ Group, Vol. 2 has sold over 200 copies, and is stocked at Books Upstairs, The Library Project, Marrowbone Books, and Connolly Books. It is also available to order directly, by e-mailing us.

FWG is built upon a collaborative, community-focused and DIY ethos. We hope to provide a space for writers that resists the competitive nature of publishing and the structural inequalities of the literary establishment. We hope to offer a remedy to the often solitary nature of writing. And we aim to foster work across a wide range of genres that is experimental, playful with form, less polished, and directly addresses contemporary life in Dublin.
